Chitral News - AKRSP CELEBRATES WINNING THE ASHDEN AWARD - 2004-08-14

A function was held to celebrate the Ashden Award received by AKRSP Chitral in London, at a Local Hotel here. DCO Chitral Presided over the function while District Nazim Shahzada Muhyuddin was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest congratulated AKRSP and the communities involved in establishing micro hydels on receiving Ashden award. It was a great achievement for AKRSP and its attached Communities and honor for Chitral and Pakistan, he said. He advised that those who have substantially contributed in the development should be acknowledged so that people are encouraged to take part in the development of Chitral. While speaking on the occasion the DCO Chitral said that Ashden Award received by AKRSP was an honor for Chitral, NWFP and Pakistan. He urged all other civil society organizations to do their best and receive awards like the AKRSP.
Earlier Regional Programme Manager Miraj Khan explained the process through which AKRSP had to go to compete among (80) competitors all over the world. He said the credit goes to the communities and all those who were involved in making the micro hydel projects success in Chitral. Dr. Inayatullah Faizi briefed the audience about the back ground and objectives of Ashden Award.

Speaking on the occasion General Manager of AKRSP, Izhar Ali Hunzai congratulated the communities on receiving Ashden Award. He also explained the new strategy of AKRSP to the audience. Among others who spoke on the occasion were Mr, Khurshid Ali Khan Ex Chairman District Council Chitral and present Chairman Union Council Drosh, Islamuddin, senior bureaucrat and Principal Pamir Public School Garam Chashma, Qari Jamal Nasir, Ahmad Saeed, and other communities representatives.
