As part of his effort to improve US relations with Muslims in East Africa and throughout the world, President Barack Obama is hosting an entrepreneurship summit this week designed to encourage grassroots economic development that can lead to political reforms.
Four Kenyans are among more than 200 mostly Muslim delegates from 50 countries invited to the event taking place in Washington on Monday and Tuesday. Including AKU Board Trustee Yusuf Keshavjee.

2010, january 20: The Aga Khan University Hospital plans to set up a heart and cancer centre in Kenya by the end of the year. The centre, the first of its kind in the region, will provide medical treatment for heart ailments and cancers, the university's president, Mr Firoz Rasul, announced on Wednesday. This is only part of their expansion agenda, which Mr Rasul said, is expected to cost more than $700 million (Sh52.5 billion). Besides offering treatment, Mr Rasul said the centre would also train specialists in cardiac diseases and cancer.

The Aga Khan's visit to the Kyrgyz Republic will focus on new initiatives in financial services, poverty alleviation, education and culture. While in Kyrgyzstan the highest guest is expected to meet with President Kurmanbek Bakiev, Prime Minister Igor Chudinov, Foreign Minister Kadyrbek Sarbaev and Finance Minister Marat Sultanov to discuss the impact of the global recession on local economies as well as issues of regional stability, in particular, Afghanistan. 2009, October 30: Prince Rahim Aga Khan delivered a speech during the Public Private Partnership Conference that took place in Syria between 30 October and 1st November 2009. The conference is organized by the British-Syrian Association in cooperation with the Office of Deputy Prime Minister. He is one of the descendants of the Prophet Mohammed and he is also the Imam of the Muslim and Shiite community of the Ismaili. His Excellency was welcomed to the Ak Orda residence by Nursultan Nazarbayev. 2007, December 19 : Iranian archeologists have discovered two interconnected Ismaili cellars dating back to 5th - 7th centuries in the vicinity of the historical castle of Alamout, 100 km from Tehran during the excavation of the northern gate of the fortress intended to study the Safavid era strata of the castle. The fortress was once the headquarters of the Ismaili sect, led by Hassan Sabbah between the 11th and 13th centuries. TE/HGH
