H. H. the Aga Khan is in talks to develop a major Islamic learning and cultural "hub" at the £2 billion King's Cross Central development in north London.
His foundation has opened negotiations for a large facility on the 67-acre site, and may occupy as many as five buildings. They are mainly for students and educational facilities, but a museum of some kind has not been ruled out.
The Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the world’s 15 million Ismaili Muslims and renowned philanthropist, spoke to The Globe and Mail Friday in a conversation that ranged from the prospects for Afghanistan to his profound admiration of Canadian pluralism.

The shortlist of 19 nominees for the 2010 cycle of Aga Khan Award for Architecture was recently announced by the Master Jury. The final Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar in October 2010. The range from a textile factory in Turkey to a school built on a bridge in China.

2009, October 12: H.H. the Aga Khan arrives in Kyrgyzstan today from Tajikistan. The Aga Khan's visit to the Kyrgyz Republic will focus on new initiatives in financial services, poverty alleviation, education and culture. While in Kyrgyzstan the highest guest is expected to meet with President Kurmanbek Bakiev, Prime Minister Igor Chudinov, Foreign Minister Kadyrbek Sarbaev and Finance Minister Marat Sultanov to discuss the impact of the global recession on local economies as well as issues of regional stability, in particular, Afghanistan. 2009, October 30: Prince Rahim Aga Khan delivered a speech during the Public Private Partnership Conference that took place in Syria between 30 October and 1st November 2009. The conference is organized by the British-Syrian Association in cooperation with the Office of Deputy Prime Minister. According to conference programme, Prince Rahim delivered his keynote address around 9:00am on Saturday 31st October.
