At a dinner hosted by Hazar Imam in honour of President Nyerere, during his visit to East Africa, Hazar Imam spoke of the establishment of the Aga Khan University in Karachi. He said: 'This University will broaden its teaching to other disciplines and will be unique in having faculties in other countries.'

Hazar Imam was guest at a dinner hosted by President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania. Hazar Imam was on a Silver Jubilee visit to Tanzania from November 20 to 26, 1982.

Institute of Ismaili Studies. Hazar Imam visited the Board of Governors of the Institute of Ismaili Studies and later conferred with the Faculty and met the staff and students of the Institute. He was particularly pleased with the progress that the library had made since Sept. 1st, 1979 when He last saw it. The present holdings of the library total approximately 100,000 volumes and 1,000 manuscripts; the latter mainly in Arabic, Persian and Khojki

Mowlana Hazar Imam visited Xian where he attended Juma prayers at the Great Mosque.

Visited Urumchi where he gave interviews to Xinhua News Agnecy and Xinjiang Gizetti. A banquet was hosted in His honour by the Chairman of the People's Government of Xinjiang Autonomous Region Mr Ismail Ahmad.

Mowlana Hazar Imam and the Noorani Family visited Mombasa. In Kisumu, Mayor Ezra Gumbe conferred the Honorary Citizenship of the Town on His Highness.

Mowlana Hazar Imam visited the Paris Jamat. Jamats from France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy and Spain gathered at Porte de Versailles on Thursday, July 3rd. On Saturday July 5th the Jamat gathered again for Holy Deedar.

Mowlana Hazar Imam, Begum Salimah and Prince Amyn visited Pakistan. They arrived in Lahore and were met by government officials of Punjab.

Mowlana Hazar Imam visited the Jamat gathered in Lahore. In the afternoon, Hazar Imam and Princess Salimah attended a civic reception hosted by the Mayor and citizens of Lahore at the Bagh-e-Jinnah. The Mayor, Mian Shuja-ur-Rahman, presented Prince Karim Aga Khan with the Honorary Citizenship of Lahore as well as the Key of Lahore. 'Last night the Shalimar Gardens smiled' said Hazar Imam.
