Aga Khan, Swiss NGO sign deal to broaden access to quality education - 2010-11-01
Posted November 3rd, 2010 by heritageTHE Aga Khan Development Network Foundation and the International Baccalaureate have agreed to jointly intensify efforts to broaden access to quality education for students in Uganda and other developing countries.
A memorandum of understanding signed at the Aga Khan headquarters in France between the two organisations sets out a framework for strengthened cooperation in the advancement of education.
Baccalaureate is a Swiss-based NGO, which offers educational programmes for “a worldwide community of schools”.

He was 70.The prince died in a Boston hospital after a long illness, an official of one of his foundations told AFP. After a career in the United Nations that spanned nearly 40 years, the prince devoted himself to defence and environmental issues.

The President appreciated the contributions of Prince Karim in education, tourism, health and social welfare. Minister for Finance Shaukat Aziz, Commerce Minister Hummayun Akhtar and Governor State Bank of Pakistan were present during the meeting.

Agency gives world's poorest loans and insurance - 2005-02-22
Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageThe poorest people in Africa and Asia are to be given access to home loans and insurance by a development agency to help drag them out of poverty and rebuild their lives after a disaster such as the devastating tsunami.The scheme would go beyond the small loans, known as microcredit and often as little as $US50 ($NZ69) given to farmers and entrepreneurs to set them up in business.
The Aga Khan Development Network said it aimed to expand its work to products including health insurance, education loans and savings accounts to the poorest people.
