Posted December 3rd, 2020 by librarian-hdIslamabad, Pakistan, 3 December 2020 - The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) won the World Habitat Awards 2020 Gold Award today for its “Integrating Indigenous Knowledge and Technology for Safer Habitat” project.
In the winning project, AKAH pioneered the use of Hazard Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (HVRAs), which integrate science, technology and local knowledge for disaster risk management and sustainable habitat planning and development.

Ignite–National Technology Fund of MOITT & Aga Khan Rural Support Programme signed an MOU in Karachi today to promote entrepreneurship across Pakistan through tailored business support services in the shape of financial/ technical assistance to start-ups,small/growing businesses.

Each visit is like a whiff of fresh air, since it addresses different issues and brings laurels for Pakistan. The Royal visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan in October 2019 raised focus on climate change but equally importantly, it showcased that local communities have tremendous potential to plan and manage their own development, once they are organized and provided access to necessary skills and capital.

Aga Khan initiative harvests water in parched villages

This is because of the roof rainwater harvesting systems installed in the villages by the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP). Villagers have enough water to take care of their drinking water needs.
