KNIGHTED BY THE QUEEN AS "HIS HIGNESS"
1957, July 26: First visit to London Jamat. Given title of "His Highness" by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Victoria had conferred the dignity of Highness on his grandfather.
Elizabeth II did the same for the present Aga Khan.

VISITS
1957, August: August 1957 was the begining of the first long visit to followers.

HIS HIGHNESS DURING TAKHT NASHINI YEAR IN KARACHI
1957, August 4: Visit to Karachi, Pakistan. In His speech, Hazar Imam said; "You all know that my grandfather was one of the founders of Pakistan…. This country is in my heart."

VISIT TO KENYA
1957, October 22: : Takht Nashini at Nairobi, Kenya.

VISIT TO UGANDA
1957, October 25: : Takht Nashini at Kampala, Uganda.

COMPLETION OF A DECADE
1967, July 11: Mowlana Shah Karim completed ten years of Glorious Imamat. Commemorative coins were issued to celebrate the event.

SILVER JUBILEE
1982, July 11: Leaders of the Jamat paid homage to Mowlana Shah Karim at Aiglemont on the auspicious occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Mowlana Hazar Imam's accession to the throne of Holy Imamat. 40 YEARS OF IMAMAT
1997, 11 July: Nation's correspondent writes: "His Highness the Aga Khan today announced that he was making grants totalling $50 million to five institutions founded by him over the 40 years of his Imamat (spiritual leadership) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims". According to PRNewswire, "The Aga Khan's family has had a tradition of international service from the time of his grandfather's presidency for two terms of the League of Nations (forerunner of the United Nations) to the service rendered to the United Nations by his late father, Prince Aly Khan, his uncle, Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan and his brother, Prince Amyn Aga Khan".

11 July, 1997:"I think the message of Islam, is the dignity with which we must treat women in society. Now, the notion of how that happens in practice, is very much a question of interpretation. But the basic premise, is the dignity and equality of women in society. And that goes right through the revelation of Islam, it goes to the tradition and the life of the Prophet, and the Prophet's wife, Khatija, was a woman who participated actively in daily life.", Said the Aga Khan in the BBC Interview as part of the program Outlook.

47 YEARS ON THRONE OF IMAMAT
2004, July 11:Ismaili community marks Imamat Day - Story by NATION Correspondents - Publication Date: 07/12/2004 - Members of the Ismailia community yesterday marked the Imamat Day at a colourful ceremony in Mombasa. The Imamat Day is celebrated by the Ismaili community all over the world to mark the day when his Highness the Aga Khan ascended to the office of the Imamat. This year's celebration marked 47 years of the coming to the throne by His Highness the Aga Khan to lead the Ismaili Muslims.
