SAT PA(N)TH VAHOREE VIRAA ALAGAA NA RAHI-E

BY PEER SHAMSH

eji sat pa(n)th vahoree viraa alagaa na rahiye
noor piyo mukhe jutthu na kahiye..............................1

vahoree - having adopted, internalised by conviction
viraa - brothers
algaa - aloof

O momins, having adopted the True Path, oh brothers, do not remain aloof from it.
The mouth by which you drink the holy water should not be used to tell falsehood.

eji jenne upaayaa ane jenne neepaayaa
sohire saaheb ne te ghaddee naa sambhaaryaa...................2

O momins, the one who originated and made us all; the same entity was not
remembered(looked after) even for a moment.

eji maaru maaru karataa(n) janam gumaavee-o
    hiralo sareekho aa maankho ddubaavee-o........................3

maaru maaru - greed of possession
janam - whole life gumaavee-o - lost
hirla - diamond maankho - human birth
ddubaavee-o - lose of drowning

O momins, the whole life is wasted in the greed of material possessions.
The human birth which is as valuable as a diamond is lost through drowning
(in the ocean of material life).

eji aavo maaraa motee naa vahepaaree
    motee vora(n)taa vahaalu vastu visaaree.......................4

vahepaaree - dealers vora(n)taa - in dealing
vahaalu - dear visaaree - left, forgotten

O momins, come o dealers of pearls(spiritually valuable goods e.g.,
Divine knowledge and wisdom); seeking these pearls through search and
meditation one forgets the wordly attachments which are dear to oneself.

eji bhulee chhe duniyaa ne maram na jaanne
    alakh neeree(n)jan imaam na peechhaanne.......................5

bhulee - gone astray maram - essence, secrets, mysteries
alakh - indescriptible neereenjan - unknowable,unseen

O momins, the worldly people have gotten astray and have not known the essence
(of salvation); having not recognised the indescriptible and unknown(to them) Imaam.

eji bhanne peer shamsh tame chetine chaalo
faree faree aavo maanakho nahi maalo..........................6

O momins, Peer Shamsh admonishes: take care of yourselves and be vigilant; you
will not get this opportunity of human birth again and again.

eji aare kaayaa taaree fulanako bhaaro
    nathee re ugarvaano eke aaro..................................7

aare - oh this kaayaa - material bodily existence
fulanako - of flowers bhaaro - a bunch
aaro - shore, means of escape ugarvaano - for collection?

O momins, this bodily material existence is just like a bunch of fresh flowers. There
is not a single means of saving them(their freshness from getting withered).

The duration of life is just like a bunch of flowers. the freshness with it's sweet fragrance
gets used up drop by drop until it is all withered, stale, dead and lost. it's only utility while
still fresh and fragrant, is to fill your nostrils with the sweetness, drenching your spirit with happiness.
Breathe in it's sweet fragrance or not, the freshness is going to die. You cannot spare it.
So we are in our life. The seconds and minutes of which it is comprised, pass away,
unceasingly, into eternity and are lost for ever - used or unused. There is no way to save
 them or spare them. But if we fill up these seconds and minutes with love of our Hazar Imaam;
utilise them in acts of His pleasure and pass them under His obedience, they will be full of our
spiritual happiness. If they are thus utilised, they are worthily spent, otherwise they are lost without any profit.

eji daan pun dejo viraa supaatre joi
pujaa naa fall tame lee-ore soi...............................8

daan pun - religious dues(tithe) supaatre - the right receiver
pujaa - religious performances lee-o - will reap

O momins, offer your religious dues to the right(legitimate) receiver after recognising Him. Then
indeed you will receive the rewards for your religious performances(rites and ceremonies).

eji pun daan deeje viraa aapannere haathe
a(n)t kaalle aave taaraa jeev ddaa nee saathe.................9

O brothers give religious dues with your own hands. At the time of your death,
these will accompany your soul.

eji eso geenaan peer shamsh bolyaa
    reekheesar jaannee saahebe padd-daa kholyaa..................10

O momins, this knowledge and wisdom is given by Peer Shamsh. The Lord(Imaam) removed
the veil(covering the reality) upon knowing a genuine murid.

eji padd-daa khulyaa ne saahebe najare su meelee-aa
    lakh choraasee naa feraa-j ttaleeyaa.........................11

O momin, by removing the veil the Lord was attained through the Spiritual Vision(Deedaar). The entire
burden of the eighty four cycles of rebirth were wiped out upon attaining this Vision.
