Nestled high in the mountains and surrounded by unrivalled vistas of rugged terrain, stands a 700-year-old fort which has been witness to the socio-cultural history of a resilient people, and to a remarkable feat of modern day conservation.

In Amin's dream, God told the general to nationalise all of the houses and flats owned by Uganda's 80,000-strong Indian community, made up of Hindis, Muslims and members of the Aga Khan's small but wealthy sect, the Ismailis. The Ugandan Life President gave non-citizens just 90 days to leave the country. That same day, 18 leaders of the Indian community - wealthy, usually optimistic men - were summoned into Amin's awe-inspiring presence. They shook their heads in disbelief when they heard what he had to say.

Attended the 1st World Mountain Forum held in Chambery, France. After the opening session which took place in Unesco headquarters Paris under the high patronage of the President of the French Republic, Jacques Chirac, the forum was held in the city of Chambery situated in the heart of the French Alps, creating a pioneer event. Prince Karim Aga Khan gave a well noticed speech with reference to the type of education and development that can be implemented in mountainous areas through NGOs work quoting the examples of Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Tens of thousands of Ismailis from all over the world gathered in Lisbon, Portugal for a week of celebrations to commemorate a once in a lifetime event of the Diamond Jubilee of our 49th Holy Imam Mawlana Shah Karim Al-Husayni who is the 5th Imam in our history to celebrate 60 years on the throne of Imamat.

The event was situated in FIL (Feira Internacional De Lisbon) during the week starting July 5th 2018 and reaching the high mark of Holy Deedar on July 11th 2018.

Members of Noorani family also visited the exhibition sites and the performances by various Ismaili artists.

Hazar Imam today opened the Aga Khan Centre in London, England. The Prince of Wales Prince Charles also joined Hazar Imam in the opening of this historic centre which be the headquarters of various Aga Khan Institutions in the U.K.

The Aga Khan Centre in King’s Cross, designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, will have six landscaped open spaces inspired by different Muslim cultures from around the world.

There will also be four other havens of calm surrounding the ten-storey building, in what is the heart of one of London’s biggest regeneration districts.

A Collaboration Agreement was signed by the director of the National Museum of Mali, Samuel Sidibé, and the director general of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), Luis Monreal. The agreement, signed in the presence of His Excellency Cheik Oumar Sissoko, Minister of Culture for Mali, aims to provide the Museum with a new information technology system, as well as improving the conservation facilities of its collections.

Canada congratulates His Highness the Aga Khan, on his Diamond Jubilee. The Aga Khan will visit Canada to celebrate this anniversary.

While in Ottawa from May 1 to 4, 2018, His Highness will attend a dinner at Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General. The Aga Khan will then continue his visit to Canada, travelling to other parts of the country, including Vancouver and Calgary.

The Aga Khan’s arrival is part of celebrations to mark his Diamond Jubilee, 60 years since his accession to his role of spiritual leadership.

The year-long celebration commenced on July 11, last year.

Divers find 'priceless' hoard of gold coins off Israel's Mediterranean coast

Scuba divers have discovered the largest trove of gold coins ever found off Israel’s Mediterranean coast – about 2,000 pieces dating back more than 1,000 years, the country’s antiquities authority said on Tuesday.

“The largest treasure of gold coins discovered in Israel was found in recent weeks on the seabed in the ancient harbour in Caesarea,” the authority said in a statement.
