Prince Hussain Aga Khan starts Canadian Living Seas Exhibition in Calgary 2023-05-18
Posted May 21st, 2023 by librarian-hdPrince Hussain and Princess Fareen arrived in Calgary earlier this week for the Canadian debut of The Living Sea – Fragile Beauty — an exhibition featuring photography by Prince Hussain, celebrating the beauty and vulnerability of the oceans.
On 18 May, Prince Hussain and Princess Fareen attended an event hosted by the University of Calgary. In front of an audience comprising faculty and staff, as well as community and Jamati representatives, Prince Hussain delivered a keynote address.

Periodical "Ismaili Aftab" Proposed - 1919-04-20
Posted April 20th, 2010 by heritageThe Dhoraji Religious Library held a special meeting. N.M. Budhwani, the Honorary Secretary put a proposal for the publication of a periodical in Dhoraji, which met an approval of all members.
It was resolved that its first issue, known as the "Ismaili Aftab", should be published during the 42nd Salgirah of the Imam, and N.M. Budhwani was appointed its editor.

Aga Khan University Graduates 777 Students, Celebrates Founder's Day and 40th Anniversary 2023-03-18
Posted March 18th, 2023 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan University on Saturday celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2022, its first-ever Founder's Day and the University's 40th anniversary. Simultaneous ceremonies were held in Pakistan, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and broadcast online to an international audience of AKU's friends and supporters. Princess Zahra Aga Khan attended the ceremony in Karachi and shared a message from His Highness the Aga Khan, Founder and Chancellor of the University. Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah was the Chief Guest.

Prince Rahim (Vice President Designate) attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration 2023-03-13
Posted March 14th, 2023 by librarian-hdEarlier today, Prince Rahim attended the Commonwealth Day Service of Celebration, in the presence of His Majesty The King, Head of the Commonwealth, at Westminster Abbey in London, England.
Prince Rahim, representing Mawlana Hazar Imam, led the procession of Loyal Societies in his capacity as Vice President-designate of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Following the event, Prince Rahim met with His Majesty The King, as well as senior members of the royal family and delegates including representatives from other faith communities.

Prince Rahim and the President of Portugal visit the Royal Treasure Museum 2023-02-24
Posted March 4th, 2023 by librarian-hdPrince Rahim, together with his younger son, Prince Sinan, and the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, yesterday visited the Royal Treasure Museum at the Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon, at the invitation of the Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva.
They were accompanied by the Secretary of State for Culture, Isabel Cordeiro; the Museum Director, José Alberto Ribeiro; the Diplomatic Representative of the Ismaili Imamat to Portugal, Nazim Ahmad; and the President of the Ismaili Council for Portugal, Rahim Firozali.

Posted January 22nd, 2023 by librarian-hdPrince Rahim attended a special event in London on 18 January to honour the contributions of Dr Farhad Daftary to The Institute of Ismaili Studies, and more broadly to the fields of Ismaili and Islamic studies, as he steps down from his management roles at The Institute.
Prince Rahim announced that Mawlana Hazar Imam has decided to acknowledge Dr Daftary’s contributions to The Institute by attaching his name to forthcoming PhD Scholarships awarded by IIS — they will be known as The Farhad Daftary PhD Scholarships.

Posted March 17th, 2009 by heritageFebruary 13, 1914 -Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III was given a grand reception by the leaders of the Indian communities residing in Burma at the Jubilee Hall at approximately 5 p.m. The Honourable U. Hpay was voted to the chair, and he started the proceedings. The address of welcome was read by U. May Oung (which was later printed in the 'The Rangoon Gazette,' on February 16 under the title "Advise to the Indian Residents in Burma"). The address was then enclosed in a silver casket surmounted by a golden peacock and was then presented to Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III.

He received his secondary education at Deerfield Academy, Massachusetts, and graduated from Williams College, Massachusetts, with a dual degree in theatre and French literature. In 2004, he received a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. At Columbia, Hussain’s main area of study was Economic and Political Development with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa.

New pavilion completes Aga Khan Garden as Ismaili Muslims mark 50 years in Canada 2022-09-28
Posted October 10th, 2022 by librarian-hdAs Alberta’s Ismaili Muslim community commemorates five decades of history in Canada, many gathered at a ceremony Wednesday unveiling the final piece of the Aga Khan Garden.
The Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, gifted the $25-million garden to the University of Alberta and it opened four years ago in the U of A Botanic Garden southwest of Edmonton. The design also includes the Diwan, or pavilion, which was just recently finished, adding indoor gathering space. Additional donors funded construction of the Diwan to the tune of $5.5 million.
