SPEECH BY HIS HIGHNESS PRINCE KARIM AGA KHAN
H.R.H.PRINCE AGA KHAN'S BOYS'& GIRLS' SECONDARY & NURSERY SCHOOL KHARADAR, KARACHI, PAKISTAN
August 27, 1960
(Speeches. Vol 2 pgs. 21-22)
I shall begin by saying how well I am aware of your needs and necessities in this particular school. I do feel that if we are going to proceed on a fairly large scale of development in the future in our education institutions, we must proceed according to certain plans and standards, and for this reason I will probably advise the City Education Board, not to proceed with any development of this building until we know the result of the negotiations which are taking place at this moment.
I feel very strongly that if we are to set standard for our future educational buildings, we should keep this standard all the way through. In our new development, not one institution should fall below the aim we are setting ourselves, and all the more so, I would like this school, which is right in the centre of this particular area, to be a fine example of our new developments.
With regard to finance, before I leave Karachi, I would certainly be taking into consideration, the recommendations of the Central Education Board, as I may do from the Central Health Board and I hope that on this particular problem we will find an early solution.
With regard to present activity, I congratulate you on the fine work that is being done. It is not easy to teach in physical surroundings which are not always agreeable. It is difficult to maintain children's interest and it is difficult to encourage parents to follow the children's education, when the parents themselves are not particularly happy with the institution.
I hope, however, we will solve this problem in the near future and in the meanwhile I hope that you will continue to do the fine work which you had been doing in the past.
Thank you.

SPEECH BY HIS HIGHNESS PRINCE KARIM AGA KHAN-1960-09-26
2009, December 9 - 15:55 — librarian-apIt is a very happy occasion to open this hospital today and I hope that it will continue to serve My community and other Pakistani residents in this area as it had been doing in the past. I take this occasion to add a point of extreme importance. Dr. Alidina kindly mentioned the hospital in Nairobi and those of you who have been to Nairobi and have seen the institution there know that we have not taken into account expenses in terms of opening first class service.
