Ismaili.NET - Heritage F.I.E.L.D.Imamate of Imam Mansoor - 946-952AD
During his seven years of Imamate and Caliphate, Imam Mansoor as the third Fatimid Caliph, encountered many forces which were actively seeking to undermine the security of the Fatimid Empire, most notably the Kharijis, led by Abu-Yezid Khariji and later by his son Fazal, and the Umayyad ruler in Spain. Despite these pressures, the boundaries of the Fatimid territory were maintained and the Ismaili dawa, under the leadership of Pir Abdul Majid bin Pir Ghalibuddin, spread as far as Afghanistan (Aziz, 1974).
Ismaili History 526 - AL-MANSUR (334-341/946-952)
He was born in 302/914 in Kairwan, the first Fatimid Imam to be born in Maghrib. His name was Ismail and kunya was Abu Tahir, surnamed al-Mansur bi-Amrillah (Victorious by the command of God). He acceded the throne on 334/945 during the time when Abu Yazid had laid a seige over Susa.
It may be known that kunya is a part of the Arab personal name, being an appellation consisting of Abu (father of) or Umm (mother of) and followed by a name, usually that of the bearer's eldest son.
