130 graduate at Aga Khan varsity, Kampala - 2009-01-26

Over 113 students on Saturday graduated with degrees and diplomas in Advanced Nursing Studies during the 6th graduation ceremony of Aga Khan University at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

Over 55 students were awarded Bachelors of Science Degrees in Nursing and 58 graduated with Diplomas in General Nursing.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Director of Health Services, Dr Nathan Kenya-Mugisha, the Health Minister, Dr Stephen Mallinga commended Aga Khan University’s Advanced Nursing Studies Programme. He said the programme has made a significant contribution towards improving the quality of nurses and midwives in the country. Advanced Nursing Studies Programme targets practicing nurses and midwives.

Since the Aga Khan University started its Advanced Nursing Studies Programme in 2007, it has awarded 161 diplomas to enrolled nurses and conferred 111 degrees in nursing to registered nurses from public, private and faith-based health institutions in Uganda. “Aga Khan University is committed to the development of East Africa,” said the President of the Aga Khan University, Mr Firoz Rasul.
