Date:
Friday, 1951, February 9
Location:

February 1951 - Karachi, Pakistan: Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III said, 'Arabic, as a national language, will give you immediate contact not only with forty million Arabic-speaking people of independent nations on your West, but the other sixty million more or less Arabic-speaking people who are not independent but who exist in Africa. Right up to the Atlantic, not only in the North, but as far South as Nigeria and Gold Coast, and in all the Sudans and in East Africa, Arabic is known to large numbers of people. If we turn to the East, Islam has prospered on Arabic among the eighty million Muslims of Indonesia and Malaya right up to the Phillipines.'
