The Marriage of Nur Satgur

ejee ramataa ramataa prabhu paattann aaveaa,
puraa kaam keedhaa peere re

R: puree baram var ne pujo jee..................................1

As he roamed and wandered, the Lord came to Patan, where the Peer performed great work. R: Worship the Divine Lord, o!

ejee dharam aaleene peer pote padhaareaa,
dhaaraa nagaree maa(n)he dheeaan kevaaeaa re...puree baram......2

After spreading the faith, the Peer himself proceeded. In the city of Dhara he aroused much attention.

ejee sakal gunn pur thee peer pote padhaareaa,
aaveaa te van mi(n)jhaar re.....................................3

Perfect in all his qualities, the Peer himself proceeded, and entered the forest.

ejee van maa(n)he jaaee peere ramataj keedhee
kar pusatak leedhaa muraaree re.................................4

The Peer went into the forest and sauntered there. The Lord had a holy book in his hands.

ejee peer mukh vaannee naa ginaan sunneene,
van naa pa(n)khee sarave moeaa re...............................5

When the teachings that came from the words of the Peer's mouth were heard, the birds in the forest were all fascinated.

ejee pireme te peere van maa(n)he virehe vadhaareaa,
vaagh viru vege aaveaa re.......................................6

Through love for the Peer, with their passion enhanced in the forest, the tigers and wolves came in haste.

ejee raannee paalann de nu(n) varat chhe motto,
harann haathe raa(n)dhee chaakhe re.............................7

Queen Palan De had made a solemn vow, to eat only venison cooked by her hand.

ejee pireme paalann de nee purav nee pireete,
te purann pirem har su(n) raakhe re.............................8

Palan De's love for her Beloved was given from prior time. She had perfect love for God.

ejee shikaaree sodhe harann haath na laage,
eto kaarann sareekhu(n) koik deese re...........................9

Her hunters searched, but could catch no deer. There appeared to be some reason for this.

ejee van maa(n)he puras mone acharat deetthee,
sarave saavaj pa(n)khee naame sees re..........................10

In the forest her man Monu beheld a wonder in silence. All the wild beasts and birds were bowing their heads.

ejee mone shikaaree man maa(n)he vaat veechaaree,
aa puras paraakaramee koek puro re.............................11

Monu the hunter thought to himself: 'This person appears to be some being full of miraculous powers.

ejee nur sat-gur paaraadhee bolaaveeaa,
tame kaame su(n) aaveaa puraa re...............................12

Nur Satgur summoned the hunter.'Have you accomplished your task, then?'

ejee sees namaaveene shikaaree boleaa,
aa puras paraakaaramee koeek deese re..........................13

Bowing his head, the hunter said: 'This person is some being full of miraculous powers.

ejee raannee paalann tenu(n) birad chhe motto,
te ser shikaar aalo harannaa re................................14

'Queen Palan has made a solemn vow, and I need a seer of game.'

ejee nur sat-gure sau ne samajaaveaa,
ser shikaar aalo harannaa re...................................15

Nur Satgur explained this to all:'Give me a seer of game, o deer.'

ejee pa(n)khee saavaj ne saan kevee aavee chhe,
aa maas leeo re muraaree re....................................16

What enlightenment filled the birds and the beasts!'Take this flesh, o Lord.'

ejee jaa(n)g kaapeene aaleeo umede,
sat-gur ne mileaa sanamukh ttole re............................17

He cut its haunch and gave it in good faith. They met the True Guide face to face in joy.

ejee maa(n)s laeene monu turat sadhaareaa,
aaveaa te kaan gaddh ne parole re..............................18

Taking the flesh, Monu immediately departed, and came to the fortress on the borders of the forest.

ejee raannee paalann de daasee mokalaavee,
maas laee aavo daasee re.......................................19

Queen Palan De sent her maid. 'Fetch the meat, o maid!'

ejee maas raa(n)dheene raannee-e haathe su(n) chaakheeaa,
chaakha(n)taa nav na(n)d paameaa re............................20

The Queen cooked the meat and tasted it from her hand. As she tasted it, she experienced the nine delights.

ejee raannee paalann de ne heerakhaj vaadheaa,
eto kaarann treebhovar nu(n) saamee re.........................21

Queen Palan De's love increased. This was all due to the Lord of the three worlds.
