EK SABAD SUNNO MERE BHAAEE - BY PEER SHAMS

ejee ek sabad sunno mere bhaaee,

ma(n)e aavee sughadd pa(n)th maa(n)...............................1

'Listen to one Word of Truth, my brother. I have entered the good Way.'

ejee kis kee bettee kis kee dheea,

tu(n) konn puras ghar naareeaa....................................2

'Whose child are you, whose daughter? In which husband's house are you the wife?'

ejee sat kee bettee sa(n)tokh kee dheea,

ma(n)e thul puras ghar naareeaa...................................3

'I am the daughter of truth and the child of contentment. I am a wife in the house of my husband the body.

ejee thul puras ma(n)e sutaa meleaa,

ma(n)e baalak meleyaa jhulataa(n).................................4

'I have left my husband the body asleep. I have left my child rocking.

ejee dudh kaddha(n)taa(n) ma(n)e chule meleaa,

ma(n)e aavee dev duvaareeaa.......................................5

'I have left the milk boiling on the hearth. I have come to the abode of the Divine Lord.

ejee dev kaaran ma(n)e sabh kuchh chhoddeaa,

ma(n)e na jaannaa(n) avar duaareeaa...............................6

'For the Divine Lord's sake I have forsaken everything. I recognize no other abode.

ejee avar chi(n)taa mujhe kis kee naahee(n),

chi(n)taa hae mere jeev kee.......................................7

'I have no concern for anyone else. I am concerned only for my soul.

ejee jeev ne kaaranne ma(n)e sab kuchh chhoddeaa,

ma(n)e aavee sarann tamaareeaa....................................8

'For the sake of my soul I have forsaken everything. I have come to take refuge with You.

ejee sat kaa saaddaa sa(n)tokh kaa naaddaa,

ma(n)e chi(n)t ke gaa(n)tth ga(n)tthaayaa.........................9

'Wearing a saree of truth with a tie of contentment, I have tied it with the knot of attentiveness.

ejee sat kaa gaddulaa sa(n)tokh kee jhaaree,

ma(n)e dharam see(n)chann kee doreeaa............................10

'To fill the water-pot of truth and the ewer of contentment, I am the rope which draws up faith.'

ejee bhanne peer shamas sunno mere bhaaee,

ma(n)e aavee kol karaareeaa......................................11
