The Aga Khan Development Network (Kenya) will this year spend over Sh2 billion to construct three schools in Mombasa and an extension to the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
The network's representative, Ambassador Anil Ishani said some Sh462 million will be used to construct the schools in Nyali and Kilindini.

Ishani said they are also spending Sh1.5 billion on the second phase of the Aga Khan Hospital to make it a specialised medical centre and will involve getting state-of-the-art equipment.

Ishani said they had already acquired the land in Mombasa for the construction of the three schools expected to be opened for learning in September this year.

Ishani was speaking at the National Museum on Thursday evening during the Mexican Cultural Exhibition.

The exhibition was opened by Cabinet Minister Prof Anyang Nyong'o, and attended by the Mexican Ambassador Margarita Dieguez.

He said they had decided as a matter of policy, to build the pre-unit, primary and secondary school units on one ground to enable the sharing of facilities like the library, the swimming pool and laboratories.

Nyong'o hoped that similar museums like the National Museum of Kenya, will be built in the main towns across the country.
