Text of report in English by Pan-African news agency PANA web site Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso: Agreement for the privatization of the Burkinabe national carrier, Air Burkina was signed 8 February in Ouagadougou between the government and the Aga Khan group, state radio reported Saturday [10 February] in Ouagadougou. The Aga Khan Group holds the majority of shares with 56 per cent of the company stocks while the state owns 14 per cent, it said. The remaining 30 per cent are distributed among national economic operators and workers at the company. The terms of the convention provide that no permanent employee of the privatized company will be laid off during the next three years. Air Burkina plans to purchase a new Fokker and register on the list of big companies in order to have access to international reservations. The airline also has plans to open other destinations, such as Gabon and other African countries. Air Burkina, dubbed 'the company of good neighbourliness', already covers Abidjan, Bamako, Cotonou, Lome, Niamey, Dakar and Accra. Source: PANA news agency web site, Dakar, in English 11 Feb 01
