The heads of German missions are set to meet at the Federal Foreign Office for the fifth Ambassador's Conference entitled 'The Future of the Middle East-Strategic Partnership and Co-operation' from September 6 to 9, Public Relations and Culture officials at the German Embassy in Doha said yesterday.
The more than 220 ambassadors, consul-generals and heads of permanent missions to international organisations expected to attend the conference will also focus on European integration, co-operation within international organisations, potential conflict prevention and crisis management strategies, regional topics and dialogue with economists and representatives from cultural institutions.

Federal Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer will open the conference. The guest of honour at the opening session will be the Aga Khan.

Former Israeli Foreign Minister Dr Schlomo Ben-Ami and representative of the Palestinian Parliament Hanan Ashrawi have also agreed to take part in a podium discussion on the Middle East conflict.

The Chairman of the 2006 Football World Cup Organising Committee, Franz Beckenbauer, has been invited to the conference to share thoughts on the preparations for the World Cup and the planned information and promotional campaign abroad.
