Kyrgyz PM and Prince Aga Khan discussed development of tourism in Issyk-Kul - 2003-10-30

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Tanaev has negotiated with His Highness Prince Aga Khan on October 27, 2003 in French town of Gouvia. The subject of the negotiations was sustainable development of tourism in Issyk-Kul Oblast.The negotiations held in the frame of workshop organized by AKFED with a purpose to exchange experience in development of tourism. The workshop attended by international experts and professionals as well as specialists of AKFED, responsible for tourist?s activities in five states of Africa and Asia.
The governmental delegation of Kyrgyzstan also included Deputy Prime Minister Kubanychbek Jumaliev, Governor of Issyk-Kul Oblast Emilbek Anapiayev, Minister of Ecology and Extreme Situations Satybaldy Jeenbekov and Head of the State Committee on Tourism, Sport and Youth Policy Okmotbek Almakuchukov. Aga Khan Development Network has begun its work in the Kyrgyz Republic since 1990. AKDN established the Kyrgyz Invest and Credit Bank and engaged in development of microfinancing activities in the south of Kyrgyzstan. AKDN also acts in educational sector. The Aga Khan School in Osh is named the centre of quality. According to the international treaty between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Imamat Ismaili, the University of Central Asia is founded and its branch in Naryn (Kyrgyzstan) under the development.
