On Friday 24th October, 1986 Mowlana Hazar Imam declared the new Aga Khan club complex open.
At the ceremony Alijah Sayed Ahamed Chairman of the Nairobi Provincial Council in his welcome address said that the grounds on which the present new complex has been built is of particular significance to the Nairobi Jamat, because it was here that Mowlana Hazar Imam's Takht Nashini was held in 1957.

He said that the club house was in the nature of a 'do it yourself club.' It has been built stone by stone, block by block, through the energy and the enthusiasm of many voluntary workers; through the gratis time, talent and effort of many professionals, the generosity of mind and means of many donors; through the devotion and dedication of many committees and through the co-operation and good will of higher councils and institutions. The Aga Khan Club has many significant achievements and today in the field of sport, it is a force to be reckoned with.

The Chairman also stated that the Aga Khan Foundation had approved the building of a swimming pool, the construction of which would commence soon.

Mowlana Hazar Imam unveiled the plaque and said that he had followed the development of the new club complex with great happiness. He wished the members of the club success in their sporting activities.
