2008, June 8: H.H the Aga Khan, the owner of French horse Zarkava, and it's Belgian jockey Christophe Soumillon won the 159th Prix de Diane horse racing, on June 8, 2008 in Chantilly, outside Paris. Soumillon won the race ahead of horse Gagnoa ridden by Irish jockey John Patrick Murtagh and Goldikova ridden by French jockey Olivier Peslier. [More]

Whereas the vanquished Rowley Mile runner-up Tahiyra has already proven herself as a top-class operator, trainer Dermot Weld and the owner could have another on their hands in Azazat, who built on an encouraging third at the Dublin track last month to win the Captain Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Maiden in impressive fashion.

Which may well explain why the Aga Khan has two runners in the Prix Zarkava, which commemorates his outstanding filly who lit up French racing in 2008 with four straight Group 1 wins culminating in success here in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
