2007, September 4:It was among nine projects that split the $500,000 Aga Khan award, awarded every three years and founded by philanthropist Prince Karim Aga Khan in 1977 to recognize and encourage designs that met 'the needs and aspirations of Muslim societies'.

ew Delhi [India]: The entry for Nila Gumbad at Humayun Tomb Complex in the national capital was opened on Saturday for the general public.
Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel opened the gate and also leads a morning walk at Humayun Tomb Complex as part of the Fit India Movement.

In 2017, Nila Gumbad was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Monument as part of the extended Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site.

The 20 shortlisted projects for the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture were announced today in Kazan at an exhibition on the awards. Among them were the Bahrain's Revitalisation of Muharraq, Oman's Muttrah Fish Market in Muscat and Sharjah's Wasit Wetland Centre.

The expo was inaugurated by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan. The shortlisted projects, which are located in 16 different countries, will compete for $1 million in prize money.
