Translation of Purav janam-no bhaag hamaaro

Purav janam-no bhaag hamaaro

Eji Purav janam no bhaag hamaaro,
bhaai saanch hamaaro;
to is din Gur Bharmaaji maliyaa ji 1

O momins! It is due to the good fortune resulting from our accumulated deeds of the previous lives, that we have attained the Divine Guide today.

Bhavare bhajan eto Gur feraa ttaliyaa,
bhaai bandh chhuddaayaa;
to paap jugaa jugnaa hariyaa ji 2

O brother! That Guide erased the cycles, o brother, released us from bondages and wiped out the sins of ages.

Lobhire bhaai tame maayaa ma raacho,
bhaai maayaa ma raacho;
to dharam no maram na jaanno ji 3

O greedy ones! Do not satisfied with the illusory material existence, o brother, do not be satisfied with this illusory material existence. As a result you will not understand the mysteries of religion.

Dharam no maram maaraa munivar jaanne,
bhaai sat-panthi jaanne;
to sat sun sukarit Gur mukhe detaa ji 4

The mysteries of relgion are known by my believers, o brother, are known by the followers of the Right Path. As a result, they truthfully offered Sukreet (good deeds) to the Guide.

E Sat Panth tamaaro jugaare jug aayaa,
bhaai jugaare jug aayaa;
to sat maarag dekhaaddiyaa ji 5

That Right Path has been in existence through ages, o brother, it has been there for ages. As a result the true destiny/purpose has been shown.

Eji Aaj kaljug maanhe paakhandd vartiyaa,
bhaai paakhandd vartiyaa;
to paakhandde duniyaare raachi 6

O momins! Today in Kaljug fraud has spread, o brother, fraud has spread. As a result the whole world is engaged in fraud.

Gur vinaa dujaa Gur na kahaave;
bhaai Gur na kahaave;
te to kaalingaanaa chelaa ji 7

With the exception the the True Guide there is no other guide, o brother, these other persons cannot be called guides. They are the disciples of the demon (kalinga).

Trann murat saamie aagal kidhi,
bhaai aagal kidhi;
to Bharamaa, Vishnu Mahesar ji 8

The Lord has established the three foundations ahead, o brother, he has established them ahead. They are Bhrama (Creator), Vishnu (Sustainer) and Maheshwar (Destroyer).

Indra Imaamdin boliyaa ginaan,
bhaai boliyaa ginaan;
to maaraa munivar virlaa koi ji 9

Indra Imamdin has expounded the Ginan, o brother, he has expounded the Ginan. There are a few courageous believers.
