Cairo Governorate and Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Public-Private Partnership for Historic Cairo Revitalisation Projects
Cairo, 17 July 2007 – Cairo’s Governor, H.E. Dr. Abdel Azim Wazir, and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture’s General Manager, Mr. Luis Monreal, today signed an historic Public-Private Partnership (PPP) linking Al-Azhar Park, a future “Urban Plaza” project at the northern end of the Park, and ongoing work by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Darb al-Ahmar.
Coastweek-- Aga Khan University Hospital has opened a state of the art dental clinic which is located on the 3rd floor of the Park Place Building at the junction of second Parklands Avenue and Limuru Road overlooking City Park forest.
The facility consists of six dental consultation rooms, a large reception area furnished with a comfortable waiting area with Wi-Fi and a big screen TV that shows educational material on dental health. It is open from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Saturdays.

His Highness the Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims yesterday committed himself to support democratic processes, to find means to help the ultra-poor, and to address political and theological tensions through consensus amongst all Muslims.
The Aga Khan was speaking at a ceremony that marked the 50th anniversary of his accession to the Ismaili Imamat. He succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan as the 49th hereditary Imam on 11th July 1957. The colourful ceremony was attended by over 250 leaders from the Ismaili community from some 25 countries.
"We live in a time of rapid change - change that is often unpredictable and not always positive. My experience with development, as an observer and a practitioner, has led me to the conclusion that the best way to manage change, whether positive or negative, is to prepare for it and that there is no greater form of preparation for change than investments in education.
2008, January 7: ISLAMABAD: Prince Aga Khan has condoled with the Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Senator Asif Ali Zardari over the death of his wife Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. His Highness Aga Khan in a condolence letter wrote, "It was with immense sadness that I learnt that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had passed away in the most tragic circumstances. To you and your family, I express my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.
He is a moderate Muslim religious leader and a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He is also a twice-married jet-setter, and he owns hundreds of racehorses, valuable stud farms, an exclusive yacht club on Sardinia and a lavish estate near Paris.

Prince Karim Aga Khan Ismailis leader arrived to Kabul Saturday morning to discuss development projects funded by the Aga Development Network in Afghanistan.
According to the presidential website, Karzai has thanked Aga Khan for the development projects he has funded in the last 12 years in Rehabilitation of historical places, Health and Education sectors.
The Aga Khan Development Network is one of the largest donor organizations operating in 30 countries, employing over 80,000 people.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that the Agha Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a model for other development organizations, as it designs and executes its projects along modern and scientific lines, with focus on improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries. The Prime Minister said this during the meeting with Prince Karim Agha Khan, who called on him here at the PM House.
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday said the government was keen to exploit the economic potential of Gilgit-Baltistan particularly its energy and natural resources for the prosperity of people.
Talking to Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President said the government would continue to work with the Aga Khan Foundation for poverty alleviation and other social welfare and economic activities.
2013, December 9: Karachi, Pakistan - This year’s AKU Convocation in Karachi celebrates the 30th graduating class of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the 25th graduating class of the Medical College, and the 20th anniversary of the start of the Institute for Educational Development. In addition to the Convocation ceremony and the annual Awards Night ceremony, special events are being organized that include an alumni reunion. To mark these milestones AKU Chancellor is expected to preside at the 2013 Convocation in Karachi.

It is great joy for me to welcome you on this wonderful occasion. And I want to begin these comments by thanking the Chief Minister for his and his government’s support to the creation of this institution.
I think what drives our network is to enable people to manage their destinies. Once they manage their destinies, you will see, generally speaking, a take-off situation. It’s when they cannot manage their destinies and cannot achieve a level of economic independence that they are indebted in a terrible way or are subject to climate change because they are in agriculture or because they are high-risk and they have an earthquake — these are situations which we try to assist.
The Aga Khan's Dalkala won in a head bob at the finish line to deny favorite Tasaday in a Prix de l'Opera Longines thriller Oct. 6 at Longchamp.
Silasol led early tracked by multiple French group winner Tasaday and Secret Gesture but entering the straight faded out of it as Christophe Soumillon urged Tasaday into command. Dalkala moved from midpack to run with Tasaday and doggedly pursued the front-runner down the stretch, drawing even in the final strides before thrusting her nose in front to win a tight photo.

Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe weekend at Longchamp started off in the best possible fashion for the Aga Khan as the owner celebrated a winner in the Qatar Prix Chaudenay.
It was Valirann, a course-and-distance winner in Group Three company last month, who stepped up one grade with Christophe Soumillon producing him with a strong late run and holding off stern challenges from Montclair and Lucky Loo in a head-bob.
British raider Nearly Caught attemped to make all of the mile and seven furlongs but weakened in the closing stages and was sixth.
