Indeed, the revelation of Islam - my faith - looks upon freedom from hunger, provision of appropriate shelter and clothing, security against fear for one's safety, good health, learning and wisdom, and generation of wealth as a blessing to strive for, and to share in the creation of an equitable order of peace and harmony.
Some may ask if preserving the material evidence of our past influences the future positively, helps us live together in peace,

Today is a particularly significant and, indeed, happy occasion for the Ismaili Community in Canada and for my wife and for me.
I am most grateful to, Yoour Exelency, the Lieutenant Governor, for honouring us with Your presence and for performing the Foundation Ceremony of the Burnaby Jamat Khana.

It is a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to address this inaugural session of the World Mountain Forum.
I am especially happy that the Ismaili Imamat has been given the opportunity to participate in a Forum organised by and for all those concerned with the difficulties facing the populations of mountain regions, and to share lessons that have been learnt, to exchange mutual experience and advice, to better identify the problems that exist, and to try, as part of a joint effort, to propose new and more efficient solutions.
Our 6th Holy Imam Shah Ismail reigned for 10 years from A.H. 148 to 158. He was also known as "Al Maktoum". His mother's name was Fatimah. She was also known as Husayni. During Imam Shah Ismail the Imamat moved from Arabia to Salamiya in Syria
