Aga Khan inaugurates Construction of Obstetrics Facility in Kabul 2012-10-20
Posted October 23rd, 2012 by librarian-hdThe Foundation Ceremony of the new Women’s Wing at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) today, marked the start of construction for a new obstetrics and gynaecology wing on the hospital premises that will provide high quality care for mothers and newborns in Afghanistan. The building, which will take 24 months to complete, will offer 52 additional beds for obstetric and gynecologic care and a 14-bed neonatal intensive care unit — the first in Afghanistan.

Established in 2002, the school is part of a network of over 250 schools managed by the Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) in East Africa, South Asia and Central Asia and provides close to 500 students with quality learning experiences in an environment which values diversity, and responds creatively to the educational needs of children.

Aga Khan wins again with Ridasiyna 2012-10-07
Posted October 8th, 2012 by librarian-hdOn the 2nd day of the Qatar Prix De l'Arc de Triomphe, Ridasiyna wearing the Aga Khan's racing colours won the 5th Race - the Prix de L'Opera Longines - at odds of more than 16 to 1. Ridasiyna was raced by the jockey CP Lemaire who had also won the previous day with Dalkala.
In this 5th Race, the Aga Khan also had Sagawara wearing his racing colours of green top with red stripe. The jockey for Sagawara was S. Bosse.

On September 25, 2012 in New York on the sidelines of the General Debates of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly the Head of the delegation of Tajikistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hamrokhon Zarifi met with His Highness the Aga Khan, the Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.
At the meeting the sides discussed issues and prospects of the realization of the Aga Khan Development Network programmes and projects in Tajikistan.

East Africa: Aga Khan to Boost Arusha's Image 2012-07-28

This was revealed here last week during the occasion in which the East African Community (EAC) and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) were signing a pivotal agreement to strengthen and broaden cooperation in the areas of economic, social and cultural development throughout East Africa.

“Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum” Exhibition Opens in Singapore 2012-07-18

The exhibition will run from 19 July to 28 October 2012.

Priceless Aga Khan artefacts go on show
KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors to the Aga Khan collection being showcased at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysian (IAMM) were awestruck by the large range of items on display.
Among the most notable is a miniature folio from 15th century Spain, glazed turquoise earthenware from late 14th century Central Asia, tiled arches from 15th century Egypt and decorated doors from 9th century Iran.

The International Baccalaureate, or IB, has programs for students aged 3-19 at 2,300 participating schools in 126 countries, said Monique Seefried, chair of the IB Board of Governors.

The University of Texas at Austin has established a five-year exchange agreement with Aga Khan University (AKU) in Pakistan, which has campuses in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The agreement includes research collaborations, special events and lectures, secondary teaching training programs, and faculty and student exchanges.

Posted February 3rd, 2011 by heritageZanzibar government has contravened laid down procedures in leasing out two of its Forodhani Beach buildings and a garden to a hotel group for 99 years, it has been confirmed.
Government sources told The Guardian the hotel group, Kempinski signed an agreement with the Isles government in October last year and paid $1.5m, equivalent to 2.1bn/-, an amount said to be a throw-away price for the prime area.
Efforts to speak to the hotel management proved futile. However, sources said the hotel is planning to construct a five star hotel at the site.

Mr Justice Declan Budd awarded costs totalling over £250,000 against the Aga Khan's bloodstock company, Stud Societe Civile de Paris, in favour of Kildare woman Mary Charlton (54) who had been secretary of the company's four Irish studs for 27 years.
