In a letter addressed to the Agha Khan, the President said under his visionary leadership, the Aga Khan Development Network is playing an important role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan, which had established an unparalleled legacy of public service and philanthropy.
He said the people of Pakistan thank Agha Khan for his efforts for social welfare of downtrodden segments of society.

Tajikistan: USAID, Aga Khan Foundation provide access to water and sanitation for Surkhob village 2022-06-28
Posted June 28th, 2022 by librarian-hdDUSHANBE — The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the joint Thrive Tajikistan: Partnership for Socio-Economic Development program, officially opened a new drinking water supply system and school latrine in Farkhor district of Khatlon province. The drinking water system will provide clean, reliable water to almost 450 households (over 3,000 people), and the new school latrine will provide access to improved sanitation to more than 600 schoolchildren and teachers, the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan reported.

Opening ceremony of higher secondary school held 2022-06-23

Earlier ground breaking ceremonies were held for two School, Booni, and, Mastuj in district upper Chitral. The expansion will increase access to quality education and extend the school from high to higher secondary, moving (AKESP) towards its goal of providing seamless transition to students from Kindergarten to 12th Grade (K-12).

Aga Khan Council for Pakistan President Hafiz Sher Ali presided over the ceremonies as the chief guest while Wing Commander Chitral Scout Colonel Shahzad Nadeem was the guest of honour at Mastuj and Rai Afzal Ali was the guest of honour at Booni.

During the conversations with AKU President Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin and other University leaders, he talked about Switzerland’s strong bilateral relationships with Pakistan.
“I am pleased to learn that the Aga Khan University’s programmes and facilities are accredited by prestigious international bodies like Advance HE, Joint Commission International, and the College of American Pathologists,” said Ambassador Cerjat.

AKAH, together with the local community, planted thousands of trees and aquatic plants to filter treated wastewater, limiting the release of effluent into the Hunza River. This “green infrastructure” helps improve access to sustainable, clean sanitation while also restoring the natural ecosystem.

Competing for the US$ 1 million prize, one of the largest rewards in architecture, the 20 architectural developments located in 16 different countries, were selected by a Master Jury from a pool of 463 projects nominated for the 15th Award Cycle (2020-2022). The jury, among which are Anne Lacaton, Francis Kéré, Nader Tehrani, and Amale Andraos, will meet again this summer to examine the on-site reviews and determine the final recipients of the Award.

$6.5 million initiative launched in Naryn to strengthen resilience to external shocks 22-05-28

AKDN dishes out Sh188 million subsidy to entrepreneurs 2022-05-27
Posted May 27th, 2022 by librarian-hdMtwara. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), in cooperation with the European Union (EU), has given a Sh188.32 million subsidy to entrepreneurs in Lindi and Mtwara regions in order to help them encounter economic effects brought about by the Covid-19.
The subsidy is part of a project run jointly by the EU and Aga Khan to encounter the effects of the Covid-19 in the four nations of Tanzania, Kenya Uganda and Mozambique.
At least 112 groups with a total of 1,290 members in the regions have benefited from the subsidy.
