President A P J Abdul Kalam today suggested an integrated approach to accelerate the pace of development in three key sectors -- education, health and rural development.
Kalam made the suggestion at a meeting with a delegation headed by the Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Later the President had a one-to-one luncheon meeting with Khan.

The spiritual leader informed the President that his trust had undertaken various projects in the three sectors in India and adopted 600 villages in Gujarat for their development.

Adi was briefed on the best means for investment of places around the Citadel of Aleppo through restoration of the existing buildings and reuse them in a way to achieve the economic feasibility.

For his part, Najhouf underlined the network's interest in expanding its activities in the fields of culture, loans, restoration, and tourism to develop the old city of Aleppo.

Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, who died on Monday at the age of 70, was the uncle of Karim Aga Khan IV, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Shia Muslims.
Born in Paris in 1933, he was the second son of the late Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, the 48th hereditary Imam and the late Princess Andree Aga Khan. The family traces its bloodline to the Prophet.

Educated in Lausanne and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University, Prince Sadruddin chose a career in politics and rose almost to the top of the United Nations. He devoted much of his life to global environmental causes.

Le Trust Aga Khan pour la Culture au cœur de la restauration de la grande mosquée de Mopti

Actuellement, les travaux de restauration de la Grande Mosquée de Mopti qui était presque en ruine, sont en cours sous l’égide du Trust Aga Khan pour la culture.

Construite dans le style soudanais en 1936 et 1943, cette importante structure architecturale de terre, a été édifiée sur le site d’une précédente mosquée élevée en 1908.

La mosquée de Djenné est également connue sous le nom de mosquée de Komoguel.
