Millions benefit as Aga Khan Development Network’s COVID-19 response ends 2023-06-07
Posted June 10th, 2023 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Development Network’s Eastern Africa Regional COVID-19 Response Programme, funded with 9.4 million euros, is set to conclude this month, leaving a significant impact on over 10 million individuals across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
Launched in December 2020, the initiative aimed to address the health, economic, and social vulnerabilities caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Eastern Africa. The program, jointly funded by the European Union (EU) and the Aga Khan Foundation, followed a three-pronged approach to improve systemic, gender-sensitive responses.

One exceptional edifice embellishing the breathtaking surroundings is the redoubtable Baltit Fort that was the royal residence of ruling families of Hunza.
Foundations of this wonderful building were laid some 700 years ago and it became not only the residence of the Mirs of Hunza but also served as defence bastion in case of an attack.

So impressive when taking the G1 Moyglare S. here in September, the TDN Rising Star was quicker away here than in the 1000 Guineas and able to draft in behind Meditate (Ire) (No Nay Never) and that runner's stablemate and pacemaker Dower House (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).

An esteemed conservationist, Prince Hussain is a photographer of ocean life and promotes ecological values and consciousness. His exhibitions aim to inspire admiration for wildlife and the desire to protect it.

Posted May 22nd, 2023 by librarian-hdPrince Rahim hosted a luncheon yesterday for His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture and Youth for the United Arab Emirates, at the Diwan of the Ismaili Imamat in Lisbon.
The meeting offered an opportunity to further discuss matters of mutual interest and cooperation between the Ismaili Imamat and the UAE, notably in the areas of culture and sustainability.
Shortly afterwards, His Excellency the Minister and his delegation were received at the Ismaili Centre, Lisbon, where they took part in a guided tour of the building and its gardens.

On 18 May, Prince Hussain and Princess Fareen attended an event hosted by the University of Calgary. In front of an audience comprising faculty and staff, as well as community and Jamati representatives, Prince Hussain delivered a keynote address.

Of the three monuments, two are currently inaccessible to the public.

Now, the 59-year-old Ismaili khalifa (cleric) from the regional capital, Khorog, is in prison, as are hundreds of other locals.

The hospital scored highly for both public and private care.

Posted May 9th, 2023 by librarian-hdDermot Weld felt the lack of a recent run cost Tahiyra, who finished a close-up second to Mawj in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The Aga Khan-owned daughter of Siyouni had been vastly impressive when taking the Moyglare on her last run in September.
However, her trainer felt that she would have benefitted from an extra couple of weeks and having made a tardy start from the stalls in the mile fillies’ Classic, she had plenty of ground to make up.

Posted May 2nd, 2023 by librarian-hdOn Tuesday, Habib Bank Limited (PSX: HBL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that its sponsor, the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), has shown its interest to buy additional shares in the bank against an investment of Rs. 3.53 billion.
According to the stock filing, AKFED has informed HBL vide its letter dated May 1, 2023, of its intention to acquire additional shares of the commercial bank from the open market by utilizing the accumulated dividends that have not been repatriated, amounting to Rs. 3,534,747,825.

Dr Sulaiman Shahabuddin, the university president, said the multi-million dollar education and health complex located in Nakawa Division will be ready by 2025, enabling students to be admitted the same year.
Uganda’s Education minister Janet Museveni and Princes Zahra Aga Khan, a daughter of His Highness and trustee of Aga Khan University, launched the project and engineering works at a colourful on-site ceremony yesterday.
