4 October 2005: At a ceremony held in the Debating Chamber of Scotland's Parliament at Holyrood, Edinburgh, His Highness the Aga Khan was awarded the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy 2005. In receiving the Medal, the Aga Khan noted the importance in the Muslim faith of sharing resources and caring for the poor. He accepted the Award on behalf of the thousands of dedicated volunteers, from around the world, who contributed to the work of the AKDN.
