2009, October 12: H.H. the Aga Khan arrives in Kyrgyzstan today from Tajikistan. The Aga Khan's visit to the Kyrgyz Republic will focus on new initiatives in financial services, poverty alleviation, education and culture. While in Kyrgyzstan the highest guest is expected to meet with President Kurmanbek Bakiev, Prime Minister Igor Chudinov, Foreign Minister Kadyrbek Sarbaev and Finance Minister Marat Sultanov to discuss the impact of the global recession on local economies as well as issues of regional stability, in particular, Afghanistan. Kyrgyzstan's foreign minister Ednan Karabaev meets with Prince Aga Khan - 2008-11-06

2008, November 6. Kyrgyzstan's foreign minister Ednan Karabaev met with Prince Aga Khan. During the meeting, E.Karabaev welcomed him on behalf of President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev and thanked the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for rendering material assistance to quake victims in the republic' south. The parties discussed the results of implemented projects and perspectives of cooperation between AKDN and Kyrgyzstan. It was also raised issues about projects, which reflect tasks that set by the President of Kyrgyzstan in his message to the people of Kyrgyzstan.

The Aga Khan arrives in Naryn - 2008-11-06

2008, November 6. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Igor Chudinov and Prince Aga Khan have arrived in Naryn town. The goal of their visits is to familiarize with construction process of the University of Central Asia. The Prince Aga Khan arrived in Kyrgyzstan on three-day visit at the invitation of the republic's government. He had already visited Kazakhstan and Tajikistan within the framework of his tour to Central Asia.

Spiritual leader of Ismailits Prince Aga Khan IV visited Osh, the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, where familiarized with a school named after him. The school was build in the frame of Aga Khan Fund?s educational programme and trains about 300 children. They study on the basis of copyright plan and international methodical teaching. During the visit, Prince Aga Khan have got acquainted with sport-hall, computer class, teaching-resource centre as well as participated in presentation of project?s exhibition, implementing by Aga Khan Fund in high mountainous regions of Osh oblast.

EBRD TO INVEST IN KYRGYZ BANKS CHARTER CAPITAL - 2000-09-02

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to invest $1.4 in the charter capital of the Kyrgyz Credit Investment Bank now being formed. Total charter capital at the new bank will total $7 million.Kyrgyz Credit Investment Bank will begin operations in September. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Tanaev has negotiated with His Highness Prince Aga Khan on October 27, 2003 in French town of Gouvia. The subject of the negotiations was sustainable development of tourism in Issyk-Kul Oblast.The negotiations held in the frame of workshop organized by AKFED with a purpose to exchange experience in development of tourism. Consultative Council on development of tourism in Issykkul region will be set up. This was disclosed during the workshop in Costa Smeralda, organized by Aga Khan Foundation. The main duty of the Consultative Council will be to draw up a common strategy of development. The Kyrgyz government will transfer several loss making enterprises to the Prince Aga Khan Fund for rehabilitation under an agreement signed last year that Kyrgyzstan's lower house of parliament has ratified.
First Deputy Finance Minister Emirlan Toromyrzayev told Interfax this would include enterprises in the mining, textile, pharmaceutical and other manufacturing industries that has received loans under government guarantees and are having financial problems.

His Highness Aga Khan Kerim IV together with his brother His Highness Prince Amin Aga Khan have arrived in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit.
