Uplift of Chitral: AKDN’s contribution lauded

Speaking on a report of Senate Functional Committee, which was presented in the house after visiting the district, she said that AKDN has done wonders in an area, which was always ignored by respective governments in the past.

Men wearing vests and helmets repair parts of the roof still bearing visible traces of the four-year-long battle for the former rebel stronghold.
They cover its charred surface with a fresh coat of white paint as part of a wider effort to rehabilitate the Saqatiya market, or souk in Arabic.

Afghanistan- MoU Signed on $631m Hydropower Dam in Badakhshan 2019-03-20
Posted March 21st, 2019 by librarian-hd(MENAFN - Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace on power supply to northeastern Badakhshan province and construction of a hydroelectric dam there at a cost of $631 million.
A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the MoU was signed between acting energy and water minister Mohammad Gul Khulami and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) head Eng. Amanullah Ghalib and representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Tanzania: Allocate Land to Aga Khan, PM Orders Dodoma City Directo 2019-03-11
Posted March 11th, 2019 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam — Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed the Dodoma City Council executive director to allocate land specifically for the Aga Khan Development Networks (AKDN) to invest in a bid to, among other things, help the country achieve universal health coverage.
The Premier issued the directive yesterday during the inauguration of the Sh192-billion worth expanded (Phase II) Aga Khan Hospital building in Dar es Salaam, insisting that the government wanted to keep on working closely with the Network to enhance improvement in various key sectors.

The forum was in Askwith Hall in Longfellow Hall, at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The occasion was the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture, which she was there to give.
At a time when the world is grappling with issues of child-centered education, of women’s rights in Muslim societies, and of the loss of authentic local cultures under a wave of globalization, the princess spoke to all of these.

President lauds Aga Khan’s contribution for uplift of underprivileged communities across world

He said this in a meeting with President of the Aga Khan Council for Pakistan Hafiz Sherali who called on him to deliver a letter from Prince Karim Aga Khan.

Aga Khan Foundation to train 13,000 youths
Posted September 10th, 2018 by librarian-hdThe large number of young people in the Northeast need opportunities to be self-reliant instead of looking for scarce white collar jobs, the Aga Khan Foundation has said.
To achieve this, the government should work together with the private sector and the civil society, the foundation’s manager for Coast and North Eastern Atrash Ali said.
The organisation intends to train 13,000 youths in Garissa, Mandera and Lamu.
Ali distributed training and business equipment to 13 youth groups on Saturday. He said up to 75 per cent of the population in the region are below 35 years.
