Aga Khan arrives in Dhaka
Posted September 16th, 2013 by librarian-hdPrince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the 15 million Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a two-day visit.
Foreign minister Dipu Moni received him at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival by private a jet to a red carpet reception.
From there, he will go to the National Memorial in Savar to pay respects to the Liberation War heroes, a foreign ministry official says.
The Aga Khan is also the founder and Chairperson of the Aga Khan Development Network, one of the largest private development groups in the world.

The Foundation Ceremony of the new Women’s Wing at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) today, marked the start of construction for a new obstetrics and gynaecology wing on the hospital premises that will provide high quality care for mothers and newborns in Afghanistan. The building, which will take 24 months to complete, will offer 52 additional beds for obstetric and gynecologic care and a 14-bed neonatal intensive care unit — the first in Afghanistan.

Posted June 7th, 2010 by heritageIslamabad: Due to its sustainable initiatives to improve living conditions of more than 200 villages in Pakistan, the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service Pakistan’s (AKPBS-P) Water and Sanitation Extension Programme (WASEP) was recently awarded with the National Energy Globe Award.
The award is conferred in a grand ceremony organised on the United Nation UN World Environment Day in Kigali, Rwanda, as WASEP was able to outshine more than 800 entries from 111 countries. WASEP was also short-listed as one of the top three projects in the prestigious Water Category Award.

I am especially happy that the Ismaili Imamat has been given the opportunity to participate in a Forum organised by and for all those concerned with the difficulties facing the populations of mountain regions, and to share lessons that have been learnt, to exchange mutual experience and advice, to better identify the problems that exist, and to try, as part of a joint effort, to propose new and more efficient solutions.
