In response to numerous press inquiries resulting from reports in the media, the Secretariat of His Highness the Aga Khan confirms that His Highness and his wife have been separated for more than 18 months and are currently living apart. The Aga Khan filed for divorce in France four months ago.
In conformity with the long-standing practice of not commenting on the private lives of either His Highness or members of his family, no other statement will be made in this regard.

Press Release - CELEBRATED U.N. HUMANITARIAN LEADER PRINCE SADRUDDIN AGA KHAN DIES AT AGE 70 - 2003-05-13

Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, son of the late Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan and the late Princess Andrée Aga Khan, died in Boston yesterday, aged 70 after a short illness. Coincidentally, his half-brother, the late Prince Aly Khan died on exactly the same day forty-three ago. The younger of Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah's two sons, Prince Sadruddin was the uncle of the present and 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismaili Muslims, His Highness the Aga Khan.

Funeral ceremonies for Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan who died in Boston on 12th May, will be conducted in Geneva, Switzerland.

Arrangements have been made for members of the diplomatic corps, government officials and close friends to pay their last respects to Prince Sadruddin at the Chateau de Bellerive, 25 Chemin du Milieu, 1245 Collonge-Bellerive between 3:00 p.m. (1500 hours) and 8:00 p.m. (2000 hours) on Thursday, 15th May, 2003.

His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam (Spiritual Leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, on Saturday married German-born Princess Dr Gabriele zu Leiningen.

The private religious and civil ceremonies were held at the Aga Khan's French residence, Aiglemont, in the presence of close family members and 20 leaders of the Ismaili Community and their wives from around the world.
