The Aga Khan, who is the Spiritual Leader or Imam of the global community of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, said he was delighted to announce the engagement.

The meeting preceded the signing of an agreement aimed at expanding the partnership between the two institutions. Prince Amyn Aga Khan, who signed the agreement on the Aga Khan's behalf, thanked the ADB for its long-standing cooperation and lauded the Bank's efforts to adopt a new long-term strategy this year in the face of growing challenges and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Members of the Leaders International Forum represented the Jamat at the wedding ceremony. On the day before, a civil marriage ceremony took place at Aiglemont, the Aga Khan's family home in France. The marriage was officiated by the Mayor of Gouvieux, Mr. Patrice Marchand.
