The Signing Ceremony of an Accord of Cooperation between the Government of British Columbia and the Ismaili Imamat. The Honourable John Horgan, Premier of BC, and the Honourable Katrine Conroy, Minister of Forests, represented the Government of British Columbia. Prince Rahim Aga Khan and Princess Zahra Aga Khan represented the Ismaili Imamat. @ 9:30am Pn Pacific, Vancouver, Canada. smaili Imamat (represented by Prince Rahim Aga Khan) and B.C. Premier John Horgan has issued the following statement marking the birthday of His Highness the Aga Khan:

“Today we join Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims in British Columbia and around the world in celebrating the 85th birthday of their spiritual leader, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV.

“The Aga Khan has worked selflessly to help reduce poverty and improve quality of life for some of the world’s most vulnerable people. As we all continue to cope with a global pandemic, addressing growing inequality has taken on new urgency.

Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Edmonton today, accompanied by Prince Aly Muhammad, to begin a visit to Canada that will include the inauguration ceremony of the Aga Khan Garden in Edmonton as well as degree conferral ceremonies in Calgary and Vancouver.

Upon his arrival, Hazar Imam was greeted by AKDN Resident Representative for Canada Dr Mahmoud Eboo, President of the Ismaili Council for Canada Malik Talib, Vice-President of the Ismaili Council for Canada Karima Karmali, President of the Ismaili Council for Edmonton Zahra Somani and President of the Aga Khan University Firoz Rasul.
