Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, 10 April 2022 – The Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam laid the foundation stone for its state-of-the-art cancer care centre, which will serve as a key hub for the innovative Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project (TCCP). The Project, launched by the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) in January 2020, has the goal of reducing cancer morbidity and mortality in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza.

Medical Research (NIMR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aga Khan Health Services in Tanzania (AKHST) to collaborate in health research and information sharing.

The MoU which was signed in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday opened a new beginning in health research chapter by supporting programmes which are being executed by both institutions with the aim of improving treatment and medication in Tanzania.

Mwanza. The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD) last week handed over a breast cancer screening machine worth Sh800 million to Bugando Medical Centre (BMC).

The machine was procured under a four-year Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer project which is under the two development agencies, according to the project manager, Dr Harrison Chuwa.

The inauguration of the machine was held at Bugando hospital in Mwanza Region where over 20 people would be diagnosed.

The Pakistan Navy Ship PNS ALAMGIR is scheduled to hold a 'free medical camp' in Dar es Salaam as part of a goodwill visit in Tanzania, a statement from the Embassy of Pakistan said on Wednesday.

The Medical Camp is being organized at the Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Hall, Malik Road, Upanga, Dar es Salaam, from 10 a.m. to 03 p.m. for two days on January 11 and 12, 2022.

The Aga Khan Diamond Jubilee Hall is offered on a complimentary basis as a humanitarian gesture by the Aga Khan Development Network Tanzania for the Pakistan Navy's Free Medical Camp.

Dar es Salaam. The Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam in collaboration with the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), has performed free reconstructive surgery to 24 women and girls with deformities that resulted from violence, burns and accidents.

Apart from the two hospitals, the surgeries were also carried out in collaboration with Reconstructing Women International (RWI).
The surgeries were done during the sixth camp at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam which was launched from on November 29 and set to be completed on December 4, 2021.

The Aga Khan University Hospital has introduced a premium outpatient facility where patients will pay Sh6,000 to see a consultant doctor.

The Sh55 million Peponi Executive and Specialty Clinic located in Westlands will house consultants and comes equipped with diagnostic machines, a laboratory and pharmacy.

The Sh6,000 consultancy fee is nearly triple what the hospital charges for visits to general doctors, but nearly matches what private consultants charge for specialised services.

RESIDENTS of Kibaha District and its environs are expected to get better healthcare services, after the Aga Khan Health Services (Tanzania), opened a 345m/-facility.

It is the first Aga Khan Polyclinic Health Centre in the town which will enable citizens to access quality, safe and affordable services.

The Head of Primary Medical Center in Dar es Salaam, Coast and Eastern Zone, Mr Shakir Bandari said the Aga Khan has invested $ 150,000 (about 345m/-), to build a modern system of providing Radiology services (PACS) and access to specialists through electronic/network--tele consultation.

In early March, Prince Rahim, accompanied by his wife, Princess Salwa, visited Kenya and Tanzania, to better understand the plans and responses of the various institutions and agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) towards environmental sustainability and climate action.

Prince Rahim’s visit to Kenya took place in his capacity as Chair of the AKDN Environment and Climate Committee (ECC), which was recently established to develop a policy framework on priorities related to the environment and climate change for implementation by AKDN globally.
