ABOUT THE CHAIRMEN

 

AGA KHAN Sadruddin

 

As an International Statesman, Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan has, for over forty years, been actively associated at global level with numerous human rights, cultural, conservation and ecological concerns. He has held several key positions within the United Nations, including notably twelve years at the helm of the U.N. High Commission for Refugees. His most recent assignments have included responsibility as Co-ordinator of UN Humanitarian and Economic Assistance Programmes Relating to the People of Afghanistan as well as Personal Representative of the Secretary-General for Humanitarian Assistance relating to the crisis between Iraq and Kuwait. Beyond his United Nations duties, the Prince's holistic, interdependent approach to global issues has led to active involvement with numerous other organisations and causes. Among many honours and distinctions, Sadruddin Aga Khan is a recipient of the United Nations Human Rights Award and the "Man for Peace Award 1989" bestowed by the Together for Peace Foundation.
