Vallibhai Hasham


In 1920 Messers Vallibhai Hasham and Co were major contributors towards the construction of Nairobi Chief Jamatkhana. Foundation stone was laid 14th Jan 1920 Building was opened 14th Jan 1922.

Prince Aly Khan's visit to Mombasa was hosted by Sultan Valli-Hasham. During that visit Rita Hayworth spent many enjoyable hours with Shanaz (Sultan Valli- Hasham's daughter) and nicknamed her Lulu meaning darling she still uses that name.Prince Aly Khan enjoyed watching movies at the Regal Theatre which was owned and operated by Sultan Valli-hasham.When Prince Aly Khan's race horse (Tulyar) won the derby Prince Aly Khan presented Sultan Valli-Hasham with a lighter which I Sherali Valli-Hasham treasure till today.Sultan Valli-Hasham remained friends with the prince until his accidental death.

Note:Sultan Valli-Hasham had no community title at that time
