Aga Khan Educational Services to build education city

..........KARACHI (May 12) : The Aga Khan Educational Services (AKES) plans to construct an 'education city' spread over 400 acres, off Super Highway, to initially set up a software park and a university for research, teaching, training and development of human resources in various fields of science and technology.

..........The Sindh governor has allotted 400 acres land to the AKES at Super Highway, some 20 km from Karachi, for the project which will be started with an initial allocation of $200 million. The money has already been provided by the Aga Khan Foundation. With the passage of time, more money would be provided to complete the project in time.

..........Sindh Governor Moinuddin Haider, while talking to a ministerial delegation of Uganda and Tanzania which called on him at the Governor House on Tuesday, said all-out efforts were being made to expand quality educational activities in the province. Aga Khan University Chairman Shams Lakha was also present.

..........The Governor said Uganda, Tanzania and Pakistan were faced with similar problems, and working together would be beneficial for the three countries.

..........He said efforts were being made to increase agricultural production to make the country self-sufficient in food. "We hope to get better wheat production this year", he said.

..........Lakha said after the imposition of the governor's rule in the province, law and order situation had improved and fall in crime rate had been noticed.
