Prince Karim Aga Khan arrives on fortnight visit

ISLAMABAD: Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of Ismaili community, arrived here on Saturday on a fortnight visit to Pakistan.

Interior Minister Lt Gen (retd) Moinuddin Haider, former foreign minister Sahibzada Yaqub Khan and a large number of Ismaili community members received him at Chaklala airport. Soon after his arrival he left for the Presidency and called on President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar and remained with him for sometime.

He will call on Chief Executive General Pervaiz Musharraf on Monday. He will also attend a dinner to be hosted by the chief executive for him. Prince Karim will also participate in the two-day "Philanthropy Conference" to be held in Islamabad from October 16. He will also meet the federal ministers. He will leave here for Northern Areas on October 18 on a two-day visit. The distinguished guest will return from Gilgit on October 19 and leave for Karachi the same day.

On October 20, he will call on Governor Sindh Muhammadmian Soomro and also visit Aga Khan University inauguration and foundation ceremonies. He will attend the AKU's annual convocation on October 21. Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th Imam of Ismaili community will meet the Jamaat in Sindh province from 22 to 27 October. He will fly back home on October 28.
