INTERFAX: LEADER OF MOSLEM ISMAILITES TO ARRIVE IN TASHKENT

DUSHANBE. Aug 24 (Interfax) - The spiritual leader of Moslem Ismailites Aga
Khan IV is arriving in Tajikistan on Sunday as part of his six-day tour of
Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan. Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.

A report released in the Tajik capital Dushanbe says, the main purpose of
the visit is to unveil an international university, which will have an
enormous significance for the population and culture of the mountain regions
of Central Asia.

During the visit to Tajikistan, Aga Khan IV is scheduled to meet with Tajik
President Emomali Rakhmonov, the country's Prime Minister and other senior
government and parliament officials.

The last time Aga Khan IV stayed in Tajikistan was in September 1998 when
he was on an official visit. He will depart for Bishkek from Dushanbe on
