The world leader of the Ismailis, a Shiah Muslim sect, arrived
in Tajikistan on Sunday as part of a tour of Central Asia.
Prince Karim Aga Khan IV was met at Dushanbe airport by Prime
Minister Oqil Oqilov, Tajik TV reported.
According to an earlier report by Tajik radio, the religious
leader is to have talks with President Emomali Rahmonov on cooperation
between the Tajik government and the Aga Khan Foundation, and a number of
agreements are expected to be signed.
The Russian news agency ITAR-TASS, which also reported Karim Aga
Khan's arrival, said he would be discussing the opening of an international
university in the mountain town of Khorugh.
Tajikistan's Ismaili community is mainly concentrated in the
Pamir Mountains.

[Tajikistan] today. The honoured guest was met by the prime minister of the
republic, Oqil Oqilov, and other officials of the republic at Dushanbe
airport.
