Prince Karim assured assistance for development

RAWALPINDI, March 11 (PNS): Spiritual leader of the Ismaili community Prince Karim Agha Khan has expressed deep appreciation of government's reforms Agenda and assured of his continued assistance and cooperation for social sector development in Pakistan.

He gave this assurance in his meeting with President General Pervez Musharraf here on Sunday.

The Prince who reached here on his five day visit thanked the President for the help extended to various on going projects and said that he had a deep personal attachment to Pakistan and the well-being of its masses.

The President thanked Prince Khan for his invitation to inaugurating the First Micro-Finance Bank sponsored by the Agha Khan Rural Support Program and Serena Hotel Islamabad project of the Tourism Promotion Service and the Agha Fund for Economic Development. The formal opening of both is being held today (Monday).

During the course of meeting, matters relating to investment climate in Pakistan, tourism development and various other aspects of socio-economic development came under discussion.

The president lauded the tremendous contribution to various philanthropic and social development programmes being undertaken by the Agha Khan worldwide particularly in Pakistan.

Prince Agha Khan earlier met with Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar and Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday.

The Prince discussed matters of mutual interests with the two ministers as well as funding for the Agha Khan projects and assured full support in reviving the economy of the country.

He is also scheduled to meet the Ismaili community in Pakistan.
