KYRGYZ OFFICIALS MEET GUESTS OF THE MOUNTAIN SUMMIT.

The Global Mountain Summit, which began in Bishkek on 29 October, continued on 30 October in sections and panels. In the frame of the summit, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed in Bishkek on 29 October the Central Asian Mountain Charter, aimed to help mountainous regions and villages. According to the Kyrgyz government, there are 260 such villages in Kyrgyzstan.

President Askar Akayev received in Bishkek on 30 October some foreign guests of the summit. He had meetings with Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shakh Dev of Nepal, Prime Minister Lionpo Kinzang Dordji of Bhutan, Prime Minister Akil Akilov of Tajikistan, minister of migration and asylum Jan Uluf Carlsson of Sweden, minister of tourism and culture Vinot Khana of India, deputy minister on energetics Ivan Matlashov of Russia, deputy foreign minister K.Traavik of Denmark.

Speaker of the lower parliamentary chamber, the Legislative Assembly, Abdygany Erkebaev received in Bishkek on 30 October Prince Agha-Khan the Fourth, leader of the world Ismailits, discussing possible help from the Agha Khan Foundation to mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan.
