'STATE OF THE ART' IMAGING EQUIPMENT
FOR THE AGA KHAN HOSPITAL, MOMBASA

Coastweek - - A new high end single slice spiral CT Scanner and a Mammography Unit will be installed at the Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa within the next month as part of the ongoing service and quality development programme of the hospital.

The installation of state of the art equipment is part of the regional imaging plan for the Aga Khan Health Services in Kenya.

The new CT Scanner is capable of whole body scanning, three dimensional skeletal imaging, angiography and bone mineral density assessment and will deliver the highest level of consistent imaging reporting.

The Mammography Unit complements the fast growing range of women's services and the work of the Breast Awareness Support Group at the hospital. Mammography imaging will be carried out by a female radiographer.

The sophisticated Mammography system has an advanced mechanism for difficult breast imaging and has the capability of assessing 25 patients each day.

Radiologists and radiographers from Mombasa will receive intensive training at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi covering both the CT Scanner and the Mammography Unit.

The investment in new equipment has been made to ensure the highest standards of diagnostic imaging.

This is part of the Aga Khan Health Services in Kenya moving towards becoming a Tertiary Referral service for East and Central Africa and a Post Graduate Medical Education institution.
