President of Kazakhstan Received Aga Khan
ASTANA. Today President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has received the distinguished public figure Prince Karim Aga Khan in Astana. The two discussed issues of regional development, particularly, activities of Central Asia University that researches problems of mountainous regions. Campuses of the university are situated in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The education is paid, however, the special commission considers financial conditions of each student, and grants privileges if one deserves.
Within the stay of Aga Khan in Kazakhstan the famous violoncellist Yoyo Ma (USA) will give the concert, the part of Aga Khan Fundís cultural project.
After that Aga Khan will visit one of regional campuses in Tekeli near Almaty.
Aga Khan Development Organisation is one of largest international private organisations cooperating with UNO, UN Development Program, World Bank, etc. It was founded in 1967 headquartered in Paris. Socioeconomic development and culture are the main fields of activity.
