President To Discuss Bilateral And Int'l Issues With French Leaders

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: July 01 (PNS) - President General Pervez Musharraf will discuss bilateral, regional and international issues besides exploring avenues to increase economic and trade ties with French leaders during his forthcoming three-day visit.

The President who is on a four-country official visit will arrive in Paris on July 2. He will hold talks with his French counterpart Jacque Chirac soon after his arrival. He would meet with French Parliamentarians of both houses. The Foreign Minister of France Dominique de Vilepin will host a dinner for the President and his delegation in the evening.

During his visit the President will be accompanied by the Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Revenue Shaukat Aziz, Minister for Privatization, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Secretary Foreign Affairs Riaz H. Khokhar and Secretary Information Anwar Mehmood.

An important event of President Musharraf's visit will be his address to the "Business and Investment Conference on Pakistan". The event jointly organised by the MEDEF (French Business Confederation) Academy Diplomatic International and the BOI (Board of Investment of Pakistan) at the International Conference Centre, on July 3 is being seen as an opportunity to attract French investors into Pakistan.

The President will meet delegations of French businessmen separately after the Conference. He would witness the signing of Model Production Sharing Agreement between TOTALFINAELF and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources of Pakistan.

The President will meet Prime Minister of France Jean-Pierre Raffarin the same day and their talks are likely to focus on bilateral issues covering a wide variety of subjects. They will discuss international issues of concern for both the countries.

The meeting will be followed by President's address to a large gathering of Pakistani Community living in France at CAP-15 Hall near the Eiffel Tower. In the evening, the President will attend a reception hosted by His Highness Karim Aga Khan. The Reception will be attended by leading French Businessmen, Parliamentarians, Members of the diplomatic corps and senior officials.

President Musharraf will address a Press Conference on the last day of his visit and leave for Pakistan the same evening.
