Maths, Sciences Skills

The Professional Development Centre (PDC) in collaboration with Aga Khan Education Service in Kenya has launched an in service training programme aimed at upgrading teachers' pedagogical skills and content knowledge of mathematics and sciences.

The more than sixty teachers are drawn from Nairobi and Mombasa. The Certificate in Education course brings together teachers from Government schools and Aga-Khan Education Service schools.

In Nairobi, the course focuses on mathematics while in Mombasa the programme focuses on science. The Government called on teachers and parents to forge closer ties to help develop a positive attitude towards mathematics among students.

So far, the programme has benefited over 400 teachers in the country and is part of a series of training activities that are currently taking place in East Africa.
