AKU, RTI to work in joint venture

KARACHI: Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) has agreed to work in partnership with the Research Triangle Institute- Education Sector Reform Assistance (RTI-ESRA) for building the institutional capacity of selected districts of Sindh and Balochistan to be funded by USAID.

An orientation programme was held at the AKU-IED to discuss the institute’s role in building institutional capacity.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr Sadruddin Pardhan, Acting Director of AKU-IED apprised participants of the session about the role of AKU-IED in quality improvement through research, professional development programmes and policy dialogues.

Also speaking on the occasion, Dr Noor-ul-Haq, Additional Secretary (Academic) at the Sindh Education Department said that it was the right time for provincial and district governments for improving the quality of education in the country through IED’s innovative programmes for teachers and education officers.

Muhammad Memon, Head of Programmes, AKU-IED shed light on the institute’s plans and strategies for institutional capacity building.

The Director General, Provincial Institute of Teacher Education, Dr Mehboob Ali Sheikh, Fawad Shamas and Executive District Officers and District Officers (Education) from various districts of Sindh also attended.
