Transport Minister, Makram Obeid reviewed with Representative of the Agha Khan Network in Syria, Mohammad Mofadai Saefo prospects of cultural cooperation between the Network and the Ministry.
During their meeting yesterday, both sides discussed a number of transport projects due to be financed by the network on the top of which is renovation of Hijaz railway stations which are considered as a '' historical, civilizational and archaeological edifice''.
Both sides stressed the importance of keeping these stations for their tourist and archaeological values as historical witness on the Islamic civilization.
The Agha khan establishment for culture has been involved in maintenance and renovation works in three Syrian castles which are the citadels of Aleppo, Mesyaf and Salah Eddine in collaboration with the Syrian general establishment for antiquities and Museums at the Syrian ministry of culture.
